AICE Media Film Opening - ' Doppelganger' - What Now?

I've long dreaded this stage in production, but now that I've learned about the deadline of April 30th at the latest it seems I can push it away for not much longer.

Filming.

I personally am very lucky that my girlfriend majors in film, as she's been such a big help to me behind the scenes. She's given me more tips about this film than I can possibly count, as well as offered to teach me and help me with editing. My long term plan has been to possibly rent camera equipment and the like, or at the very least mooch off of a friend who would also have to rent equipment. My girlfriend has advised me otherwise, suggesting that using a professional grade camera would be unnecessarily complicated, as cameras were not meant for sound. Apparently I will be much better off with a high quality iPhone, as the visual and sound is done automatically, and not serving as yet another trivial task for me to take on.

To my delight, my actor, who has already been more than helpful in her provision of props, also has the latest iPhone 14. I've been drooling over this phone for ages, especially in terms of how much it would have helped me for this film opening, as it comes with a brand new 'cinematic' mode. I've played around with this feature on her phone, and I cannot say anything but wow. For something as 'unprofessional' as an iPhone, the results have been nothing short of amazing.

Setting

Sounds simple enough, but there's one glaring issue: a lack of cleanliness on both my own and my family's part. I do not want my various locations to be squeaky clean, as I want the setting, an average middle class home, to feel lived in. But I will absolutely not stand to film in, let alone invite my actor over, to an uncleaned home. I want my setting to feel clean, not perfect, but clean. So I guess I'm going to have a bit of a chore list on my hand.

Storyboarding

This is yet another aspect of production that I've been putting off, albeit, a very necessary one. I'm not a drawer, but I'm going to have to garner every last bit of courage that I've got to put together at least a somewhat passable storyboard, to help me and everyone that is helping me have a clearer vision about the visuals of this film. Will update with a blog entirely dedicated to the final product.
