[ media studies ]

 My enjoyment of this class so far is not something I'd have expected for myself if you were to ask me a year ago. Last year was a really degrading year for me in terms of the AICE program, so much so that before making the decision to join this class as a last hope, I was really ready to quit. I so badly wanted out, but I was convinced to give it one last year as AICE Media Studies was now available for students who didn't have the prerequisite of past media classes, and the description of the class sounded fun enough. Fast forward a year, and if the first few weeks of this class have been any indicator for what's to come the remainder of the school year, then I think I'm in for a class I'm really going to enjoy. I struggle to make time for a lot of media in my life, despite being a huge fan of film and television and the rare book. And as for other forms of media, I really just am not a big fan of the news, and music has been harder and harder for me to enjoy. The escapism that entertainment media brings is difficult for me to escape to with just how hectic and busy things are on a day to day, a big player into that lack of free time is school work. However, this class has been the perfect combination of classwork and entertainment that has allowed me to [as homework??] revisit my favourite movies for the first time in ages. From that impression alone, I'm really excited to discover what else this class has to offer, as it is honestly likely to become my only fun class this year.
